What was the truth about the Vietnam War?
I was taught that North Vietnam took over South because they wanted the South to be independence and free. They said USA was a foreign invader. But why so many South Vietnamese left the country after Vietcong attacked Saigon?? Why were so many South Vietnamese refused the Communist-control in Vietnam, which leaded to the "boat people" incident? The Vietnamese in USA uses the South Vietnam flag, and why they kept saying that Vietnam has no human right?
There are many truths about the wars in Vietnam, and it appears you were taught many lies:
1. The First Indochina War (the French War) and the Second Indochina War (the American War) were both fought in what is now Vietnam today.
2. There never was a nation called "North Vietnam." The real name was the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
3. The nation of Vietnam never invaded itself, the separation of Vietnam into North and South was only meant to be a temporary measure, not a permanent one.
4. The people in the south of Vietnam did want to be free, but under the dictatorship of Ngo Ding Diem they were not.
5. The People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN) took Saigon, as it was the political capital, and once that city fell the country was re-united once again. Many people left because they feared retribution for supporting the sucessive South Vietnamese governments and the U. S. military.
6. Some of the Vietnamese living in the U. S. A. are still living in the past and need to come to terms with the present.

Are'nt all the worlds problems the leaders we have let take control .?
Seems like having a few people in charge always leads to disasterous ends for everyone .I would like to see at least 67% of americans actually vote to go to war .not the elected officials or the president but the people .Then at least we can have a draft and include all those people who want to go to war .That would be 180 million americans and if 10% of them went to war that would be 18 million in our army .We need to build more transport ships and guns and bombs for the warriors of our nation .
I choose peace unless tens of thousands of people are coming here to kill us in boats and planes .I will protect the beach near where i live .Will all of you do the same .
With all this constant talk in the U.S. about going to war with this country or that country, how long will it take the world to unite against us? For years the USA had always been regarded as benevolent by most of the world. Today, most of the world seems to see us as a threat to peace. They may be correct in that assumption.
Although we are due justice for those who attacked us, are there not too many innocent people suffering in our desire for justice? Striking back with our military is too broad of a stroke. Those who attacked us have not even been effective. The strategy seems to just kill everybody. That way were sure to get those responsible.
