Engine Needle Valve
Is the needle valve supposed to have a gasket or washer under it?
I have a 1985 suzuki jr50 mini dirt bike. It wasn't getting gas so i took the carb apart and clean everything. Thought the float might be bad so i ordered a new one. It was coming up to high and pressing the needle and stopping the gas from coming into the carb. So i just backed out the needle valve a little to compinsate and it worked but wont always stay running because the rattle of the engine causes it to scew back down and stop the gas. Is there supposed to be a gasket or washer under the needle valve because there isnt one? P.S. I just got this bike off a guy, he didnt know if it even ran. So i dont know if it used to have one or what.
there is no fuel filter and the line is good and clean. the gascock works fine to. when i back out the needle valve gas got into the carb but all the way screwed down it doesnt. tried to adjust the float pin, but ended up breaking the float. thats why i ordered a new one. so ill have to try it all again when i get it.
There's usually a fiber washer. But in any case the it needs to be screwed down tight. You adjust float height by bending the float arm.
