What speed can I expect?
Have just purchased a 15ft fiberglass fishing boat with a planing hull (cathedral Hull) and 3cyl Tohatsu 25hp 4 stroke outboard. All brand new. Dealer says boat should plane with a max speed of about 25 knots with 2 adults on board. Wanted to ask if this is about right or were they being a bit optimistic?
Given that it is a cathedral hull and only 15 feet and that the engine is a four stroke out board that produces a lot more torque than a comparable two stroke 25 knot speed is not out of line.
