Gas Powered Remote Control Cars

Could a routine oil change have screwed up my power steering pump?
Hi guys,
So last week, I had my oil changed at WalMart. Shortly after that, my car started making a whining noise, like one of those remote-controlled cars -- when I turn it on, and then when I step on the gas. I think it's the power steering pump. The car has 100k miles on it, and I bought it used. It is a 2005 Honda Civic. What I am wondering is if they boys at WalMart could have inadvertently screwed up my power steering pump, of if it is just a coincidence. Specifically, if they put the wrong kind of power steering fluid in it, could that have damaged the pump within a very short amount of time?
Thanks!
Kevin
Hey Piedkevi, by routine oil change are you referring strickly to the engine oil? If only the engine oil was serviced then the answer is no. However if the power steering system was also serviced, expecially if it was flushed with a powered flushing unit then the answer is yes, Honda has specific servicing procedures and power steering fluid which is not compatible with conventional power steering fluid may have contaminated the system., consult your operators manual for specifications.Honda has had many problems with contaminated and damaged power steering pump and seals as a result of this incompatibility. auto parts stores now carry Honda specific oils to accomodate this problem. Hope this helps...good luck
