Gas Speed Boat
90 hp merc 4 stroke outboard---wont get speed--why?
boat revs up nicely in nuetral but when i put into foward stalls around 18 rpm---ive put a bunch of carb cleaner (fuel additives with fresh gas) in but no use---any suggestions what i cood do b4 i get ripped off by the local mechanics again?
Most common is restriction in the carbs. Unless you have the proper tools to re-sync the carbs after a good soaking in carb cleaner, take it to a Mercury dealer to have them done. Sorry, this is not something easily done.
After the cleaning, use a product called Quickclean by Mercury and use a fuel stabilizer all the time. And now the hard part, use you boat more, sitting around is the worst thing to do. Any carburetor 4 stk motor will clogged the carbs in about 3-4 weeks of sitting around.
