Helicopter Landing
Why do planes require runway for landing and takeoff ? Why helicopter technology can't be used in plane ?
To answer this you have to understand aerodynamics and how they work with aeroplanes. The four forces operating on a plane is thrust, lift, drag, and weight. Lift must overcome weight, and thrust must overcome drag in order for a plane to take off. If you figure a commercial airplane weighing in at over 300,000 pounds, you are going to need a lot of lift. To get that lift, you not only need a great design with good wings, you're going to need thrust. To generate the thrust required to generate the lift to overcome the weight, you need a nice straight piece of land to build up speed.
Helicopters can't fly nearly as fast as commercial planes and most likely never will. Their rotor would have to face almost straight forward and even then you're working with a propeller compared to a jet engine.

What are the laws in Australia about landing helicopters in parks?
If you wanted to land your chopper in a park in Australia, what do you have to do/say to ATC?
If you wanted to land a helicopter in a park (ie. foreshore/oval), what do you have to do ATC/Police/etc. wise?
Note: I have seen various helicopters landing in parks, ranging from private to tourism
You cant - you can only land a chopper in deisgnated areas - you need a permit to land in any public areas. When the Westpac chopper for instance lands in a park to pick up a patient - this is coupled with a police presence which evacuates the park before hand. So while the chopper doesnt have a permit as such, the police are on hand to ensure the publics safety.
The answer is obvious. We should ground all birds. Then the sky would be safe again…
