Ahh, I see.
I have not been in such a situation to need 2 cameras for a shoot. I have done a softball game before, but a fellow photographer and I teamed up for it. It was also a small event, so we were allowed to get right next to the action. I have also done a monster truck show for personal fun, but I used a 75-300mm lens for that and was able to get most of the action from my seat.
A sporting event would also be one of the times I might opt for taking the backpack since I wouldn't expect to be moving around much.
