My jet ski is running out of the water butt not in the water?
i rebuild the carburetor's on the jet ski and its running ok with the water hose butt it dos not start up in the lake,
When i take the jet ski out of the water it sturts up butt when i put the jet ski in the water with the motor running it dies.
In order for an engine to run you need 3 things: Fuel, Compression and Ignition. Fuel consists of a proper fuel to air mixture. Compression is provided by the piston traveling up in the cylinder. Ignition is provided by the spark plug at the proper time when the piston has completely compressed the fuel/air mixture in the cylinder.
You say the engine will die when you start it outside of the water and lower it into the lake. The only things I can see being removed are either the air intake is blocked or the ignition is being submerged and shorted out. How quickly does it die when you put it into the lake? Does it instantly stop running, saying the ignition spark has been removed, or does it slowly idle down starving for fuel and air. I suspect the air intake because you just rebuilt the carbs.
Best thing to do is to go back and recheck your work and make sure all the hoses and flex tubes are properly connected.
You might also want to check the water pump or jet. It could be loading down the engine if it's always engaged in the water, but won't see any pressure at all out in the air.
