Model Boat Yacht
Does anyone know what model of boat the Hugo Boss yacht (that recently sunk) was?
It was a custom design built for single handed around the world racing.
"round-the-world racer Alex Thomson has been rescued after his damaged yacht started to sink 1,000 miles from land.
Thomson jumped into a life raft as his £1m Hugo Boss yacht filled with water in the Southern Ocean during the Velux 5 Oceans solo race".
"The 32-year-old had to battle huge waves to paddle to a yacht sailed by Hamble's Mike Golding, who had turned around to save him"...
"Thomson, who lives in Royal Clarence Yard, was forced to abandon ship 1,000 miles south of South Africa when his keel collapsed, capsizing the vessel and causing him to be thrown from his bunk
He was in third place when the disaster struck".
The boat, Movistar, was designed and built by Farr Yacht Design. The hydraulically operated swing keel failed during a storm in the 'round the world race and was abandoned and presumed to have sunk by the storm.
The boat is a custom built racer valued at approximately $1.9 million.
