RC airplane trimming help please?
i have a J-3 Cub 25 ARF 3 channel RC plane, I have been trying to trim it so that is will fly some what even. The issue that i am having is that no matter how i trim it the plane will go up and then dive and come back up and repeat, like its on a seesaw. Are there any other types of adjustments that i can make (trim or other than trim, maybe to the servos) to correct this issue? I am flying it inside a hanger, so there is no wind or any other type of outside sources causing this issue.
To set elevator trim. Using the stick, get it flying level. When flying level, if you are pulling back on the stick, apply trim in the same direction. If you have to push the stick forward for level flight, then trim in that direction. If there is not enough travel to trim, the length of the push rod can be adjusted by screwing the clevis on or off. You need the rod screwed into the clevis most of the way, so if the push rod is too short, you may need a new one. If the rod is too long you can make a new z-bend with a pair of needle nose pliers. If you adjust the length of the push rod, have the trim centered. For some reason, all my planes need a few degrees up elevator with trim centered. They all recommend having the elevator flat with the horizontal stabilizer for a starting point though. Also you might want to check your center of gravity, though it sounds like that is not the problem.
