If you are sailing model boats, you are either on 27 or 40 mhz bands. If your using 40 mhz, you can sail 30 boats anyway.

I have never heard of anyone doing that. You would need a pretty sturdy boat to make it work though. I could see a 3 or 4 lb bass sinking most remote control boats I have seen. Additionally, even if the fish isn't big or strong enough to sink the boat, it would probably be strong enough to pull the boat out of range of the remote control.
The kite idea for dropping baits long distances is one of the most ingenious thinks I have ever heard of. I would be curious to hear how it worked. As a fisherman and kite enthusiast, I may be stealing that idea as some point in the future. I think you would have better luck using the boat for something like that rather than actually landing a fish.
