Rocket Racing Boat i have a metaphor worksheet that i need help with?
this year's speedboat race was full of excitement! racers traveled from across the country to compete. people thought solomon jones would be a lam dunk to take th trophy. the fans were jumping beans in the stands.. before the race the boats drivers wee caged animals just waiting to escape. once the race started, the boats were bumblebees swarming around each other at every turn. sam speedy led the race at first, then rita rocket took the led in the lastlap. close behind solomon jones was a jackrabbit leaping over the waves. jones took the lead right at the finish. the stands were a madhouse of noise and cheers. solomon was proud peacock as posed with his trophy for photographers. even sam couldn't believe what a monster the trophy was
I'm guessing you're supposed to find some/all metaphors, right?
Here's what I could find:
the fans were jumping beans in the stands
the boats drivers wee caged animals just waiting to escape ("were like caged animals"...I guess P:)
the boats were bumblebees swarming around each other
the stands were a madhouse of noise and cheers
solomon was proud peacock as posed with his trophy
sam couldn't believe what a monster the trophy was
Metaphors are to create an analogy between two things. Like the last example "even sam couldn't believe what a monster the trophy was". The trophy wasn't a real monter of course, it's just said like that to emphasize how big it really is. There is an analogy between the size of the trophy and a monster. Both are really huge.
