Roll Cage Traxxas
I want to make a Roll Cage for my Traxxas Slash 4x4 but I have some problems?
First off i don't know what materials to use. I know it needs to be light but durable. i was thinking aluminum or some kind of small tubing. if i were to use tubing what kind and where can i get some? also i don't have the equipment to weld aluminum. unless you use a torch but i don't know how to. So what should i use. I have a wooden dowel full size model of what i am making. i just need to know what to make it out of and where to get it.
If you go to home depot, lowes or a TSC...pretty much any hardware store, you can get solid metal rods in any length. Even the size of the dowels you used for the model. You would need something to cut the rod to the lengths you need. An air cutter or dremmel. And if you have a mig or tig welder you are set. If you use aluminum, one good hit/crash and it will bend it out of shape. You can bend the steal too but not as easily. I have made a few roll cages for my Revo and Maxx but if you don't have the right tool to make it with, you are going to run into frustration and problems. Hope this helps.

what materials should i use to build a roll cage?
im looking to build a roll cage and light rack on my traxxas slash what materials should i use. i want the joints to look good anyone got ideas?
i know u can buy them but i prefer to make it myself

Brass tube. Available at any hobby shop. Get a cheap bending tool while you're there. Cut to fit, solder the joints, and file the solder joints smooth. Much more durable than wire and looks more realistic. you can get the tubing in various diameters, so you can make your roll cage one size and the lightbar a little smaller. After you're done making it, sand all the tubing with a fine grit sandpaper to rough it up, and paint it any color you like, or leave it the brass color. The only thing about leaving it brass, is that it will tarnish and turn dark and mottled.
