What are some quality and crap RC brands?
I'm new to rc and will prob be doing alot of buying online,
I know a few main ones like tamiya, assosiated, losi and xray but i see about a hundred others? esp on ebay il name but a few, seben, hpi,hsp,hsx.hpx,venom, trinity, schumacher, and there are heaps more!
please help, i know my real cars but new to rc and i dont wanna buy the daihatsu of rc racing lol !
OH BTW IM LOOKING AT GETTING A 1/10 ELECTRIC TOURING CAR FOR ISTC STLYE RACES.
please dont buy a tower st-15, it is the most terribly designed truck ever, i should know because there is one right beside me. lets go through the pros and cons of it. Cons: engine always overheated for me and i had it running rich, the throttle linkage rubs on the spur gear, their are no ball bearings anywhere, even the clutch bell doesnt have bearings, the tires go bald the first tank of gas, the shocks are terrible, the springs are weak, the dogbones suck, the fuel tank sucks(i have managed to go through two in half a gallon of gas, etc, etc, etc. Pros: it has a rebranded futaba radio, reciever, and two standard servos that you can use on something else.
anyway, on to your question. the only brands i would consider purchasing are Team losi, Team associated, traxxas, hpi, tamiya, xray, duratrax, and thats about it.
Team losi: stadium trucks are racers and monster trucks can be racers or bashers. buggies and truggies are racers as well.
Team Associated: everything they make is meant to be raced other than the mgt.
Traxxas: Revo is a racer, everything else is a basher. They make very fun vehicles, especially the electrics. but some of their nitros are notorious for being fragile(relatively)
HPI: Mainly bashers
Tamiya: mainly nostalgic, usually pretty slow but they offer many kits you build yourself which many people like. they are also pretty highly detailed most of the time.
Xray: Racers
Duratrax: bashers, a somewhat budget company that offers a 1 year parts breakage guarantee on many parts.
I would suggest you stay away from lesser known brands, they arent popular for a reason you kno
1/10 electric: go with xray, losi, or associated and make sure you dont go cheap on batteries, they make a big difference
