Speed Boat Model
What are your ideas on how to make a mini Sailboat for my Science Class Project!?
here are some things to remeber!
*The project will consist of developing a boat from any material(s). The boat must be a 12 cm (+ or - 0.5 cm) long and 6 cm (+ or - 0.5 cm) wide at the widest point
*could use plastic straws, wooden splints, aluminum foil, coated paper, etc.
*Final score will be determined based upon success of the boat in the capacity and speed categories and completion of paper.
Model boat kits are not allowed.
*Two competitions will involve the boats. The winner of the cargo (buoyancy) competion will be determined by which boat will support the most mass (pennies) without taking on water (flowing over the sides) or touching the bottom The other competion will involve sailboats by blowing it with a fan and using glass stiring rods to keep it in the right direction.
*there will be 10 pennies on board while sailing

Model speed boats in Hong Kong
summary info, you can view the mass and volume for the boat. Then, you can control the density when the boat is converted to rigid body. Its mass will be adjusted automatically depending on density you set for the object boat. Remember that the density parameter can be changed from the rigid tab when an object is converted to RigidBody.
Second one, if you have imported the boat as normal SD and not as Multibody, you can control the density for the boat object with density=mass/volume. To view what is the volume for the boat object, go to the menu tools and you'll have a meassure option. A new dialog will be displayed with the volume information. You'll need to divide the volume/1000 because of it is in cubic meters. Depending on how the boat model has been made in the 3d package, maybe it could be a wrong volume, and if you apply d=m/v the mass could be of 10 but the boat could be still falling down through the fluid. By default the density for any object is 1000, if you reduce the density to 500, the object should be floating.
