Turbine Jet Engine
Has a jet engine/turbine been invented that can give a greater thrust than its weight?
In other words, a gas turbine that with a fuel supply can lift itself straight into the air? If there is, what are they called and provide some information. Thanks.
A "pound of thrust" is equal to a force able to accelerate 1 pound of material 32 feet per second per second, the equivalent to the acceleration provided by gravity
A jet engine that is of producing 1 pound of thrust, could hold 1 pound of material suspended in the air, if the jet were pointed straight down.
So, a jet engine producing 5,000 pounds of thrust could hold 5,000 pounds of material suspended in the air.
Honda HF120 Turbofan has a thrust of 2,050 lbf and weighs less than 400lb , It could suspend 1650 additional pounds in the air
Any jet engine that produces more thrust than the weight it is lifting can go straight up

Is it possible it make a model turbine jet engine?
For my senior project, my topic deals with jets. I was wondering if it was possible to make a model of an engine. What could i make it out of?
i happen to know someone who made a scaled down fully functioning turbine jet engine that fit on a desk as a sophomore in highschool. its DEFINITELY possible.
