While the Rotter turns the Gas Turbine Jet Engine at the percentage of N1?

And this in turn starts rotating the Turbo Air Compressor up front at the percentage of N2. When reaching the RPM of 30% of N1, combustion takes place in the air combustion chamber and thus pushes the N1 at the RPM of 70-80 percent of N1 while N2 at around 50-55 percent. In few seconds as the excess fuel burns out, the idel RPM of aorund 30% of N1 is attained and remains constant. My question is why the N1 and N2 are at different RPMs when they both are connected to the same shaft and also how is it determined that how much air is exactly need through the air compressor into the combustion chamber at a specific N1 and N2 percentages???
