Wedge Tires Foam

SOUND PROOFING FOAM, which is best?
i have a loft style condo with 27ft ceilings, and i am tired of getting noise complaints. i am trying to absorb bass as well as peoples voices. what style acoustic foam do you recommend? pyramid or wedge?
Foam or fibre is not going to do enough for you, if this is for insulation to other units above or below. absorption and insulation of speech is easier to achieve, but low frequency control is difficult one it's airborne. Bass absorption foam wedges can be over 1ft long.
Describe the arrangement, the construction and source of complaints and I'll add something.
In the absence of anything else -
If speech / music is clear in other condos (intelligible) you probably have holes somewhere in the structure. Fill them with packed mineral fibre (or similar) and seal with mastic; repoint any poor masonry joints and seal. Check esp. around beams/columns passing through & check for shared pipework / ducts
If speech / music is muffled next door, probably poor sound insulation. Part fill cavities of any drywall/floors (mineral fibre, treated wool, other non-hygroscopic fibrous / porous material)
Add mass to walls/floor/ceiling - plasterboard (gypsum board) of at least 10kg/sq.m joints sealed and stagger a second board over it if possible. Add independence between new board and old wall if possible by placing on new studs to ensure gap between new studs and existing wall (suspend ceiling boards on resilient hangers using metal frame as I presume ceilings are too wide to allow independent joists)
You can lay soundboard but it can be very expensive in comparison to gypsum based boards (at least in Europe) if we're talking about the same thing.
If the problem is to below from subs/speakers and you have butt edged floor boards unsealed at joints then, first, experiment with adjusting the settings, moving them and mounting them on a resilient "cushion" (oh, and turn the volume down). If no help, then the only effective option will be to place above resiliently hung ceiling in rooms below. You can raise floorboards and add mass/absorption/resilience below them but this is not as effective. Always caulk the joints unless these are required to control damp in floor void.
Footstep noise - only real answer is resilient surface - rugs and carpets, rubber tiles or mats, etc
Think about your behaviour and ask yourself whether the complaints might arise from conflict between age or lifestyle. try to compromise, set out some guidelines, etc. There cannot be silence in condos so some interference needs to be accepted.
As for absorption, try soft furnishings, heavy curtains, paintings with gap behind and a foam pad, feature absorption panels hung from above or walls, but let's face it wedges and pyramids are ugly as sin. Lots of materials out there, but there are few ideas below.
