Traxxas Summit Repair and New wheels
2 stick controls for a Traxxas rustler, going brushless motor?
What happened to the 2 stick controls? I want to buy a rustler with a 2 stick controls but can't find one anywhere? whats teh advantage of the new wheel thing? how could i convert it to a two stick and how would i make an electric Traxxas Rustler 'brushless' i am a begginner rc racer and my experience is limited so simple terms please or explanation of rc terms much much appreciated. Also any way of adapting those peugot remotes with a monitor onto a Rustler? And FINALLY would a Rustler be reccommended buy you pros out there! First informative answer gets bst answer!

When I first started in r/c there was no such thing as "RTR Ready To Run", I had to build it from a box of parts. I still love building from a box of parts. If I ever buy an r/c that is pre-built, I tear it down and rebuild it my way.
The first control I've ever had was the 2 stick and everybody had a pistol grip type which I wanted. Most company's build the cars for you and include the pistol grip style controller because that is the most popular.
If you want to change from pistol to stick, it's very simple.
Go to your local hobby shop and ask them for a basic 2 stick, 2 or 3 channel 75mhz FM transmitter without the servos. They'll probably suggest a Futaba or a Hitec. Both are great and will work great with your exitsisting Traxxas servos.
You want FM because because of a longer range and a cleaner signal for use with a brushless motor.
Unplug the servos from the Traxxas receiver and pull the receiver out of your car. Set the radio and receiver aside somewhere.
Now install the new receiver and plug in the servos. Steering is on channel 1 and throttle is on channel 2. If for example the steering doesn't work, unplug the servo from channel 1 turn it around. The black wire on the servo should always be away from the receiver.
You being a beginner I wouldn't recommend a brushless system. Mainly because of the cost involved. A brushless system is not as forgiving as a brushed system. Remember in brushless the electronic is converting DC power into AC power. If you short anything out there is no reset button espically if get anything wet.
